How do you say Taxi in Spanish?

We got in to our hotel very quickly once the plane actually got to Mexico City. Our departure form Orlando was delayed about 90 minutes due to a thunderstorm system, so we finally flew out about 10pm.

JetBlue has upgraded their service,or maybe it was because it was an international flight. We were treated to snacks and drinks, bottles of water, and free in-flight entertainment of movies and live TV, plus free wi-fi while we were in range of it. The seats were relatively spacious and comfortable.

There was another delay when we got on the ground here because there was no open gate for the plane to dock at. Seemed odd since it was about 1am!

Anyway, Customs, Immigration, and baggage claim all went quickly and with no problems in the near-empty airport.

Getting a taxi was incredibly easy. You buy a ticket first, based on your destination (no meter). Then some very helpful folks carry and load your luggage into a teeny tiny cab.

The driver texted the entire time he drove maniacally through the quiet streets until we reached our area of the city. Then everything came alive with late night  partiers and people eating. (Sarah- "People EAT this late here??"). The cab pulled right into a small drive in front of the hotel and the driver was helped by 4 hotel attendants in moving in our bags for us.

The 10 mile drive took about 20 minutes, and cost just $11. No tipping taxis in Mexico.

The hotel personnel were very nice and helpful, and we got into our spacious rooms

Today we'll have a big Mexican breakfast (included every day with the hotel) and explore the area. There is a tour bus we want to take to get our bearings and see what is nearby.

Weather is sunny but cool and dry.

I'll post about our activities today and add some pictures. Sarah says her phone is working so her number should work. Sam wants to know what a Mexican Breakfast is.
